The Governing Board of the National Examination Council (NECO) is to effect major restructuring regarding the way the objective sections of subsequent NECO examinations will be taken.

Making this known during the board’s monitoring visit to the Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja, Njoku explained that the examination body was planning to “introduce CBT in papers that need computer in
the next exams, but some other subjects are either practical or essay; so you cannot put everything under CBT”.
He noted that performance of students performance of students in the examination had improved over the last two years, citing instances of students that recorded 5 credit including Mathematics and English.
He said the performances of students in the exams will continue to improve as the years go by, adding that efforts will be made to ensure that teachers are properly motivated to produce good students.
The National Examination Council is an examination body in Nigeria that conducts the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination and the General Certificate in Education in June/July and December/January respectively.
NECO was created by former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar in April 1999. It was the first Federal organization to offer subsidised registration to academic candidates in Nigeria.
